Economic Package for Fiscal Year 2025: Initiative to Reform the Federal Duties Law

On November 15, 2024, the Secretary of Finance and Public Credit delivered to the Chamber of Deputies the Economic Package for the Fiscal Year 2025, which includes, among other documents, the Initiative with Draft Decree Reforming, Adding and Repealing Various Provisions of the Federal Duties Law.
Supreme Court of Justice in Mexico resolves an appeal filed against the Mining Law Reform

On October 9th, 2024, the Supreme Court resolved an appeal filed by the Federal Executive, the Congress of the Union and the Ministry of Economy, as responsible authorities, which was filed against a judgment issued by a District Court, through which the Fifth Transitory Article of the Decree that reformed, among others, the Mining Law, was challenged.
Constitutional Reform Initiative on the prohibition of open pit mining.

Last February 05th, 2024, a series of initiatives were presented by the Federal Executive of Mexico, with the purpose of amending the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States; one of these initiatives is the “Decree by which several provisions of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States are reformed, regarding the right to food, healthy environment and right to water.”, in the initiative and the included “Diagnose”, the Executive mentions that “The residues produced by open pit mining, are not only solid residues, and are also composed of residual waters, which extend to farther areas”.
